La Crosse Jail Ministry – helping the nonprofit with events and organization.

Thank you for your interest in serving our ministry. We have many opportunities such as organizing donations, collecting donations, helping plan events, helping at events, organizing our newsletter, mentoring, delivering posters, joining a committee, etc. Please complete this form letting us know how you would like to help. If you have any questions, please email president@lacrossejailministry.org or call our chaplain at 608-785-9772.

Volunteers in Faith Communities Needed

Our ministry could use a point person in each faith community (church, mosque, synagogue, etc.) to establish a process for collecting donations for our ministry.  On our support and donate page, is a list of the items that are needed by our ministry for people in the La Crosse County Jail.  Once a process is established for collecting, this point person would sort the items, removing any items not needed in the jail or too damaged to be of use.  The last step for this point person is to deliver the items to our drop off location.  This location is also listed on our support and donate page. If this would be of interest to you, please email Chaplain@lacrossejailministry.org with any questions or to state your interest in this role.

Circles of Support – mentoring people who are reentering our community.

Volunteers provide community support to someone recently released from prison or jail (core member) working to achieve successful transition from incarceration. Click here for more information.

Board Member – providing oversight to the ministry.

If you are interested in serving on the La Crosse Jail Ministry, Board that oversees the chaplain and the ministry then fill out the following application and return it to our chaplain. The chaplain will provide it to the current board that will review your application and contact you.

Youth Detention Center – meeting with youth residents to provide spiritual teaching.

There are usually only 5 youth of both genders at a time in the detention center. Their ages are 10 to 17 with most being 15 years old and up. The meeting takes place every Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. If you are interested in serving, please email or call the chaplain. You will need to complete a background check and have the endorsement of your faith community.

Services and Studies in the jail – meeting with adult residents to provide spiritual teaching.

Thank you for your interest in serving in the jail. There are opportunities to serve in the jail with your faith community. The best way to get started is to read through the jail rules and fill out this application. The chaplain will contact you and invite you to the next new volunteer training. The training is the best introduction to serving in the jail. Because of the nature of this ministry, you can decide at anytime not to serve.

Volunteering in the jail does require a background check and endorsement by your faith community leader. Volunteers serving in the jail, serve only if approved by Jail Administration.

Volunteers in the jail serve in pairs. It is best to look for someone from your faith community to serve with you.

Call the chaplain at 608-785-9772 or email at Chaplain@lacrossejailministry.org if you have any questions or need a printed copy of the application.
